Embracing Domestic Hardwoods
We utilize domestic hardwoods that are sourced locally in Ohio to create our kitchenware products. Many may not realize that brightly colored exotic woods often contain dyes that can be harmful. There are numerous reasons behind our decision to avoid these exotic woods, with safety being a primary concern.
Our goal is to create items that are not only food-safe and durable for a lifetime but also sustainable. We source our hardwoods locally, which helps minimize the environmental impact associated with shipping or traveling. We work with local, family-owned suppliers who practice responsible logging by replanting the trees they harvest. This commitment ensures that we are not contributing to deforestation. Many domestic woods grow at a faster rate than other species.
Walnut
The natural, rich color of walnut really brings out its timeless yet modern style. It is the darkest of the local hardwoods.
Cherry
Cherry hardwood is known for its reddish-brown color, bringing warmth to any kitchen environment. It is known for its smooth texture and grain patterns.
Maple
Maple hardwood is known for its light color and even grain patterns, making it an ideal choice for those who prefer a clean, modern aesthetic in their kitchenware.
Another variety of maple, referred to as Ambrosia Maple, features distinctive details and grain patterns. It is commonly nicknamed "wormy maple".
Beyond their physical attributes, these hardwoods have natural antibacterial properties, making it a hygienic option for food preparation. Each of these domestic hardwoods are incredibly durable, making cutting boards highly resistant to scratches and dents.
