We use high-quality domestic, hardwoods such as maple, cherry, and walnut to handcraft our cutting boards and kitchen items. These woods are known for their durability and resistance to moisture, making them ideal for use in the kitchen. We only craft with domestic woods, that are sourced locally and sustainably.

To ensure the longevity of your cutting board, we recommend hand washing it with warm water and mild soap after each use. Always avoid soaking the board in water or putting it in the dishwasher. To maintain its beauty and to keep it water resistant, use a food-safe mineral oil or beeswax to condition the board frequently. (When it starts looking dull - it needs to be oiled or waxed!). Included with each purchase is a set of care instructions and a trial size cutting board wax from us. We also sell a larger size of the wax that we make with 100% food safe ingredients!

Each cutting board design required a different process. To craft a standard edge grain cutting board, the process starts by cutting the rough sawn wood into smaller sections. Each piece is jointed to achieve smooth, squared edges. Following this, planing is done on the remaining sides to ensure uniformity. The wide pieces are then cut into strips using a table saw to create designs. The assembled pieces are glued together, slightly exceeding the final dimensions. After it has dried completely, excess glue is hand chiseled off before planing once more for a smooth finish. Then, the cutting board is resized to it’s official dimensions using a table saw. Following this, the edges, juice grooves, and handles are each hand-routed. Every board is individually branded by hand, followed by a thorough sanding process. The board is then cleaned and treated with oil and wax. Our end grain and specialty designs involve repeating certain steps multiple times, which adds to the crafting time.
